For patients

Your first visit

What to bring, how to check in online before you arrive, and how to get your X-rays and MRIs to us.

1. Book your appointment

Book online any time through MyChart, with no account needed to schedule, or call (410) 268-8862. To see a particular provider, use the booking button on their page in Find a Surgeon.

For a new injury, OrthoToday offers same-day and next-day appointments.

2. Check in online with eCheck-In

About 7 days before your appointment, Luminis Health sends a text inviting you to update your registration, insurance and health history online. Do it from your phone or computer, and no paper forms or clipboards are needed when you arrive.

MyChart is Luminis Health’s free patient portal: appointments, test results, messages to your care team and bill payment, on a computer or in the Luminis Health app. You can sign up online, or ask for an activation code at your visit.

3. What to bring

Luminis Health Orthopedics asks you to bring:

  • Photo ID
  • Physician referral (Luminis Health’s checklist says that without one, you will have to reschedule)
  • Your health insurance card and copay
  • A list of your current medications
  • All previous X-ray, MRI, CT or bone scans
  • Your referring physician’s and primary care physician’s name, address and phone number
  • A list of your questions and concerns
  • A parent or legal guardian, if the patient is under 18

Not sure whether you need a referral?

Call (410) 268-8862 before your visit and ask. If your insurance plan requires a referral or authorization, Luminis Health will help you get it.

4. Your X-rays and MRIs

Bring all your previous X-ray, MRI, CT or bone scans. Luminis Health radiology images are available electronically in MyChart, and Luminis Health’s PowerShare service lets you store your images and share them with other providers.

Need copies of your Luminis Health records for another doctor? Request them online or with a signed authorization form from the Health Information Management department.

5. Getting to your office

Locations has each office’s address, phone, hours and a Google Maps directions link, plus parking for our Annapolis office on the hospital campus. Most provider pages also list the offices where that provider sees patients.
