Insurance & billing
Luminis Health accepts most major insurance plans. Here is how insurance, billing, cost estimates and financial assistance work.
Insurance
- Most major plans are accepted. Luminis Health does not publish a plan-by-plan list, so to be sure about your coverage, check with your insurance plan or call us at (410) 268-8862 to ask about the insurance we accept.
- Bring your insurance card. Luminis Health bills your insurance for you and will ask for a copy of your card. If your information is incomplete or inaccurate, you may be responsible for the full cost of your care.
- Referrals and authorizations. If your plan requires them, Luminis Health will help you get them.
- Copays. Your copayment or coinsurance is collected at the time of service.
- No insurance? You are responsible for paying for your care, and financial assistance may help (below). To find coverage, visit Maryland Health Connection (opens in a new tab), Maryland’s health insurance marketplace.

Your bill
Care at Luminis Health can come with separate bills for the hospital, the physician and imaging (radiology). Pay online at pay.luminishealth.org (opens in a new tab) or in MyChart, which gathers your Luminis Health bills in one place.

Estimating your cost
Luminis Health’s MyChart cost estimator (opens in a new tab) gives price estimates, and its price transparency page lists standard hospital charges. Physician fees are billed separately: for an estimate of those, call us at (410) 268-8862.
The same page explains your right to a good-faith estimate and your protections against surprise medical bills (the no-surprise billing flyer is also in Spanish (opens in a new tab)).

Financial assistance
Luminis Health offers financial assistance to patients who see its employed physicians. Patients may qualify for free or reduced-cost medically necessary care based on household income or financial hardship, whether or not they have insurance, and can apply up to 240 days after their first bill. Interest-free payment plans are available for hospital bills.
Financial counselors help with the application and with programs such as Maryland Medical Assistance (Medicaid). The application and policy are also available in Spanish, and free interpreters can help you apply.
